Name: Andreas (Andy)
Course: Physics, 2nd Year
Hey there! I’m Andreas, but most people call me Andy, and I’m one of your trip coordinators for this year! I’m a 2nd year physicist on the MPhys course and I’m also one of few international students not doing Business Management. I’ve got a lot of exciting trips in mind for the upcoming year, so keep your eyes peeled for news on those in Term 1 and 2. I’d be more than happy to answer any questions regarding the course, life at uni, the society etc. I’m also very approachable and would love to get to know as many of you as possible so feel free to come say hello when you see me around at socials!
Favourite fresher’s memory: All of term 1. Make the most of it.
Worst exam: Classical Mechanics and Special Relativity. Enjoy the 2017 past paper! For maximum effect, I suggest doing 2014-2017 past papers in chronological order.
Place you spend the most time: I tend to do most of my work in my room. If I’m not working then Quantum Mechanics tells us I’ll be at Bread Oven.
Favourite PhysSoc event so far: : I am a sucker for the Physics Café (narrowed it down to about 20 events). Genuinely entertaining and highly informative.
A piece of advice: Meet and interact with as many people as you can, and not just physics students. Make an effort; everyone is in the same boat as you!
Course: Physics, 2nd year
Hi I’m James, a 3rd year on the BSc course and one of the trips coordinators for this year. My job is to organise any trips throughout the year so if theres anywhere that you really want to go with the society, let me know and I’ll see what I can do. I can normally be found in the physics workroom or failing that drop me an email.
Favourite fresher’s memory: The first physics society social was good fun and was a really good way to meet loads of people from the course.
Place you spend the most time: I do most of my work in the physics workroom so I can usually be found there.
Worst exam: Electromagnetic Theory and Optics
Favourite PhysSoc event: The ball is good fun and is something different from the usual socials.
A piece of advice: Take advantage of all the opportunities available to you.
